PERFORMERS

Mezzo-Soprano Katarzyna Sadej was born in Wrocław, Poland. Her international, eclectic career spans concert, opera, chamber music, oratorio, recital and voice over performance. Katarzyna has also performed numerous world premieres and has had over a dozen new works composed especially for her. She holds two Masters degrees in vocal performance, which she earned at the University of Toronto and Bard College respectively. As a classical recitalist, she regularly appears in Canada and abroad. Highlights of her solo appearances include the National Arts Center Orchestra (Ottawa, Canada), L.A. Opera, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Industry Opera, Carnegie Hall, the Chicago Philharmonic, Festival Mozaic, the National Theater in Taipei, the Nuits Blanches Festival of Toronto, San Diego Opera, the Ravinia Festival as a Steans Fellow, the 2012 London Olympics, the Ojai International Music Festival, the Montenegrin National Theater, the Lviv (Ukraine) and Banatul (Romania) Philharmonic, the Music Biennale Zagreb, the Bard Summerscape Music Festival, the Cartagena International Music Festival, Saskatoon Opera, the Berkshire Bach Society, Harvard University, and numerous other notable venues.

Paul Dykstra has been a performance oriented pianist for the past 45 years in both the USA
and Canada. Originally hailing from Edmonton and studying at the University of Alberta with
Helmut Brauss, he has subsequently gone on to do solo, two piano, chamber music, and
musical production work all over North America. Based in New Hampshire for 20 years, he
was involved in such diverse projects as performing Beethoven Emperor and Tchaikovsky First
Piano Concertos with Great Bay Philharmonic, Mozart’s Double Piano Concerto with Granite
State Symphony, and as the orchestral pianist with NYC Living Arts’ Production of Porgy and
Bess in USA and Trinidad. Other notable projects include his Musical Direction of the Premiere
of Roger Rudenstein’s Opera “Grace” in Boston, recordings of new American Music with
renowned clarinetist Richard Stoltzman and the Slovak Radio Orchestra, and numerous
concert engagements as a solo and collaborative pianist. Relocating to his native Canada in
2020, he has since been active as a performer, chamber musician, and Festival Adjudicator, as
well as mentoring and teaching at Kelowna Community Music School. Paul was a finalist for
the American Prize Concerto Competition in 2017. His musical tastes are quite diverse, and
include Progressive Rock, Jazz, and, on one occasion, a side gig as keyboardist for the disco
band Tavares in Atlantic City.
